SciFi loves our Ben

I've been a bit delinquent with LJ lately, so if this is not new news, pardon the excitement on my part b/c more of Ben Browder, and even more of Farscape - is frelling GREAT news!

1) SciFi.com will revive Farscape with at least 10 brand new webisodes! Casting has not been confirmed but the series will expand the Farscape universe as we know it, and will be produced by Brian Henson, Robert Halmi Jr. and The Jim Henson Company. Details here.

2) SciFi is also developing a 6 hour miniseries "Going Homer" featuring Ben Browder as the father of 12-year-old Homer Ulysses Jones who can see Greek and Roman deities walking among us. Fleeing from a custody battle, the two travel from Los Angeles to New York, encountering gods who help and hinder them along the way. Original source here. Interestingly, when Farscape was cancelled in 2002, Ben had compared the show to Homer in this SciFi interview, saying that "It is a journey piece. It is the Odyssey. It's the story of the characters and their journey through this dangerous world seeking home." Foreshadowing? Seed planting? Or just pure coincidence?

3) Remember this American Chronicle article about Ben as the next action hero? Well, I was one of the many I'm sure who wrote to the author, who in turn posted her response here.
When I suggested that his fans could make the transition from television to film with Browder, it seemed logical to me. Now, with the huge response from Browder’s fans seconding the motion to see Browder as an adventure hero; it is not just a possibility, it is a reality. Whatever genre Ben Browder chooses to works in, whatever film he chooses to do, his fans are with him. They just want to see more of his work, and they like the idea of seeing him in the role of an adventure hero like Indiana Jones.

There is no way that I can answer the many individual e-mails sent to me by Ben Browder's fans. But the overwhelming response by all of you is movie and entertainment news, and warrants mention here. I appreciate your thoughts and kind words. Your loyalty to Ben Browder's work has probably not gone unnoticed by the people who make filmmaking decisions. I am sure that we are going to have many more opportunities to see this great actor's work in film.

farscape, ben browder
