It's a week of mixed news for BSG fans. While the show won a
Saturn Award for Best Syndicated / Cable TV Show, Eddie Olmos and Katee Sackhoff mentioned that
next season will be its LAST, citing "it's expensive, we don’t have the viewership that a great show should get," and Eddie's "in respects of the way we have this show constructed, this is the final season." However, David Eick mentioned in
SCI FI Wire, that "...this is not the first time Eddie has made an announcement about the possibility of the show's end" and "I promise you that when [executiuve producer] Ron [Moore] and I make a decision about Galactica's future, we'll let you know."
Regardless, in some ways BSG's early success may have led to its downfall. Here's hoping Heroes - which coincidentally won several Saturns this year - doesn't go that route! However, given my own frustrations with S3 (oftentimes disconnected, unnecessary plot extensions and melodrama), I just hope that the next - whether or not it's final - season will deliver on the amazing promise that we saw in S1 and parts of S2 and S3.
In real life,
yesterday was a bad IT day for me. If my work laptop doesn't heal thyself by today, I am SO SCREWED!
ETA: Got the laptop to work but am getting a very disturbing BIOS message everytime I start up. Argh.
ETA2: Also,
koalathebear, I just had Dvorak's B minor cello concerto in my head all day too! I empathize with the feeling of dread, darling. Hang in there!
