Tagged by canadian_turtle! Well, the first ten or so movies that came to mind were all SF&F, angsty dramas or just feel good movies with great memories associated with them. Call me a romantic geek, if you like. Though I did try to broaden my DVD collection while in Phuket....

OMG, I LOVE TOP GUN.

That was my first R-rated movie, at the tender age of, like, five or six. It made an impression. Tom Cruise was my first celebrity crush, but in the 90s, when I watched a couple episodes of Profit and then found out Adrian Pasdar was in it, too...that just made it all the better.

There was a point in time, in college, when I was using their rendition of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" as my alarm clock.

*/top gun glee* :)

Hee. Pilots are hot! Tom Cruise and Adrian Pasdar were so young, fresh and good in it.

Good to see you back and posting again :D I see you did what I did and couldn't pick between - although I had a few instances of cheating. You were much more disciplined than I was ;)

Hah. I glanced through your meme too - such indecision! ;) I'm supposed to be writing up a report for work but oh no, just spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about movies instead.

Yes, glad to be back. The wake ended today with the cremation.

Ah! I guess I shouldn't feel guilty about all the man lust, geek love and enjoying in a really sick way that nekkid torture scene? Also, I really meant all the Bond movies but I had to limit it to just one....

PS - Hello there! Have we met before? Your LJ name and site is somewhat familiar, but then again, I could be on crack, esp. Heroes crack! -lis

Try two, stupid html...

poor carbonized Han Solo
I think that's the best explanation I've ever come across that describes in three simple words why I love Harrison's character so much...

Lord Of The Rings (extended edition)
I agree, the regular version is just crap, isn't it? LMAO Just kidding. I do agree with your entire opinion on why you like these movies, you put it better into words than I can.

Top Gun. Classic 80s tribute with flyboys and dogfights. Also, the first time I saw Tom Cruise and Adrian Pasdar in action!
Was Adrian in there?!?! I have to admit, I don't now anything from the dude from before Heroes.... I have seen Top Gun, but it has been ages :$

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The Triwizard Cup casting, scenes and music were brilliant. The movie (and Robert Pattinson) did more for Cedric Diggory than JK Rowling's original book did
And this is a guilty pleasure how? :P I agree with you about Robert though, he's so hot I started to love Cedric where I disliked him in the books.

Played a guy called Chipper (?), whose part was evidently written/fleshed out just for Adrian b/c he impressed the casting folks. Top Gun was his first acting gig, according to IMDB.

In a word? Cedric. He came across as this perfect prefect in JKR's GOF. But I left the movie intrigued by "Who is this boy?!" That led me to join HP fandom, devouring all good fanfic/vids/art about him in particular, and of course, buying the GOF book and DVD (which are the only HP ones I own, btw).

I suck for not knowing this... I shall stalk IMDB and go check out all the previous gigs from the Heroes straight away. I am sure I know more of them than I realise (before the show the only one I thought I knew was Milo...)

I loved that Lord of The Rings trailer!! The whole trilogy is great but i think that my favorite movie of them was Fellowship of the Ring.

Ohh, and P&P, both versions, i've loved the book since i first read and i think i would love any adaptation of the book, hehe

Sounds like the Fellowship is well liked in this flist! If I really had to choose one, I'd go with that too. The gathering of the nine, their "commission" and initial journey across Middle Earth, ending with the Aragorn-Boromir "farewell" scene - was truly special and wonderfully shot.

I'll always have a soft spot for P&P - it was my fave among all the stories in this compilation of Jane Austen works that I received as a teen.

Yeah, and i think it was the best filmed of the three, at least for me (i know the movies were filmed at the same time, but this one is special for me)

I love your new header and layout ;)

Thanks, though the real praise should go to alenah who made the header. It took me forever to figure out how to replicate my old LJ look and feel to make this custom header work. (The past few days have revealed how "green" I am LJ-wise).
