As was said in the last installment of the original run of "What's New?" in Dragon Magazine (issue #84), "That's Marketing's problem."

Actually, I used to use it just to show players they were making me angry and wasting my time. "Here, roll this. You need a 2 or better to succeed."

Are there really d7's out there somewhere? I'm assuming so, 'cause otherwise you wouldn't have bothered mentioning you have as many of them as you do, say, d9's.

Yes, there is such a thing as a d7. However, it, the d5 and d100 are not proper dice.
