Aria was sipping apple juice when she wished it was wine. The cool breeze shifted through the pleats in her dress and stirred through the bangs of her hair. This was unusual for her; a social event where she didn't know, well, anybody.  ( Read more... )

Irvine turned away from Selphie to find a rather attractive girl behind him. He quickly offered her a charming, crooked smile, realizing that this must be the girl he had offered to show around campus. 'Good move,' he congratulated himself mentally, taking in her appearance.

"I certainly am," he replied smoothly. "How could I refuse such a lovely lady?" he teased, taking her hand. "I guess no introductions are necessary for us, but I'd like you to meet my friend Selphie," he gestured to Selphie.

Aria smiled only briefly at the petite brunette. She looked positively young, shorter than Aria, despite being older, with an adolescent haircut. A bob with flicks, really? she could hear herself want to say. Only this wasn't Galbadia, and cutting comments aroused insult, not the sound of approving giggles. So instead, she outstretched a hand to Mr Kinneas' "friend", though she doubted he looked like a man capable of a platonic relationship. Well, good for her, she guessed.

"Pleased to meet you." She said with a firm grip. "Am I to understand you organised all of this single handedly?"

She knew she hadn't, but compliments went a long way, and she was just waiting for it to be appropriate to whisk her ponytailed companion away without seeming too rude.

"Aria Byron, it's a pleasure."

Irvine quickly put a hand on Aria's shoulder, stepping in before Selphie could reply. "Selphie had a hand in it. She throws an excellent party," he spoke up. If Aria got Selphie started, it could be awhile - she might even find herself sucked onto the Garden committee.

After they had finished shaking hands, Irvine continued, "So, like..there's no time like the present to start our tour. We'll see you later, Selphie." His charming smile matched his flirty tone, as he steered Aria away with his hand now on the small of her back. Though Selphie was hardly a girlfriend of his, he liked to keep the women in his life separated.

Aria's eyes wondered around the quad, taking in the faces and positions of everyone and mapping it all out in her mind. The fingers that were lingering on her back made her feel more ''socially'' secure, per se. As for a move, it was one of the more subtle she'd experienced in her lifetime.

"So, the quad." She said, quirking up a smile. "Is this where all the 'cool' kids hang out?"
