Today I've attended a lecture held by Konrad Paul Liessmann. He is a philosophy professor from the University of Vienna, and some might say a philosopher, but more importantly (for this post) he's the author of a book called Theorie der Unbildung or roughly translated to English - The Theory of Uneducation. As an American myself... I have to say I agree with you quite a bit, bakho. We put too much importance on education for future's sake; a degree is required for about 80% of the decent-pay jobs around here. If I thought I could pull it off, I would study my interests as well as get an education to get a better job. But my interests are so widely varied that if I did that, it would take me *years* to finish college/university and I would be so far in debt I would never see the far side ( ... )
