Ooh, nice. I've been trying to find ways to use up our freezer-full of moosemeat and venison. Alas, I'd have to make my own puff pastry; can't seem to find the ready-made stuff around here.

I don't think i've ever eaten moosemeat. what is it like?
You have to make your own puff pastry! If i make it, i cant eat it- seeing all that butter going into the pastry - every bite of pastry i eat i'll be thinking "that's 1 tablespoon of butter" lol!

It's not bad, usually. Calf moose is really quite good, but it can get pretty tough from the older bulls. The flavour's similar to a cross between beef and venison, and it's quite lean, like venison. A lot of what we have right now is ground, and I usually just throw it into things in place of ground beef.

Hahah. I have a blitz version that's not quite as bad, but... If you're not doing it with a ton of butter, it's not proper puff. :p

Thank you! Venison is really quite nice and very lean. I'm quite lucky i can get really good quality venison at the farmer's market near my house.

I wouldn't mind checking out that recipe for the cranachan cupcakes but the link keeps giving me a 400 bad request error and won't load.

Thanks for sharing, though :)

It appears as though the entire site won't load in my browser. It didn't occur to me until now that perhaps that was a Firefox issue (some websites are not set up for multiple browsers, sadly!) And it does load in Internet Explorer - yay!

Thanks for trying again, though! I appreciate the effort :) Cheers!

Hope the firefox issue is fixed. i generally tend to use firefox as well but you're right, it doesn't always work for all sites which is a pain. :)
