I was wondering if there is any alternative to using the crescent rolls, as I'm not very sure what they are, but I'm pretty sure you can't get them in my country, and the recipe does look good.

You could use any yeast dough recipe. I love this one: http://willowbirdbaking.com/2012/04/05/buttery-coconut-almond-morning-buns/
It might make more than you need, but then you can make sweet rolls for dessert, too :)
