Red Plum Recipes?

I just moved and now we have a red plum tree! In fact, it's sprouting more plums than I know what to do with, even with Mom giving them away to every neighbor within 10 houses. xD So, does anyone have some recipes involved red plums they'd like to share? I'm pretty much open to anything with a couple of catches ( Read more... )

Not recipes, but ideas. Plum tart, plum jam, and candied plums. If I had access too lots of plums, that is some of the things I'd think about making. I don't think any of the above has too many ingredients either. A rustic tart is pretty nice too and very easy.

You could even make your own prunes. I think that has one ingredient.

We have a plum tree too! Yielded SO much fruit!

I found this tart to be very yummy:

We cooked down a lot of the fruit with brown sugar, butter and cinnamon and froze it for future crumbles when the weather turns colder.

Adding chopped plums to a cooking curry produces a wonderfully fruity edge. According to my Indian mother in law, it's actually a pretty common practice!

It's yummy isn't it!

Word of warning - I bought ready-made pastry cases as I was doing a tea party in a hurry, and I found that the filling actually filled two cases!

I have a golden greengage tree, and I substituted them for the plums in this Waitrose recipe. You can skip the final step with apricot jam. Or, if you make plum jam, use it. (See below ( ... )

When we had a glut of normal plums, I used some of them with ginger and chilli, and cooked them with pork. It worked out quite nicely. I can't remember exactly how, but it made for a lovely fruity spicey dish.

I love pickled plums, e.g.: http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/pickled-plums-3599

I don't even bother pitting them, much less chopping. Just pull them one at a time out of the syrup with my sticky fingers and suck the fruit off the stone :)
