Um... I don't mean to be nelly negative, and I do like Mary Berry and have several of her books, aaaaaaaand (lol) your stuff looks amazing!but... that ain't no Bakwell tart. Bakewell tart has a frangipane topping not a sponge topping flavoured with almond essence.

it seems you don't know there are different variations :3 such as the original bakewell tart and bakewell puddings and cherry bakewell, and this is one of the versions you can make and I've seen been made many times under the name of a bakewell tart or puddingu w u

FULLY aware of that thanks.. and all three, tart, pudding and cherry (cherry being really just a version with fondant and a cherry..) still use a frangipane not sponge filling. The difference between the tart and a pudding is that the tart uses short crust and the pudding uses puff.

Don't misunderstand me I am sure it tasted dead on and like I said it looks lovely, but it's a "take" on a Bakewell unless is has frangipane.
