Pumpkin Spiced Granola

So in case you haven't noticed, it's autumn.

If you live in anywhere other than the tropics or crazy California, where seasonal climate changes exist only in dry jokes (ha ha--sorry, had to do it), this means that pretty soon, you're going to be huddling under your blankets during the cold mornings and won't want to go outside anywhere. Period. Not ( Read more... )

"If you live in anywhere other than the tropics or crazy California ... pretty soon, you're going to be huddling under your blankets during the cold mornings"

Or, you know, the ENTIRE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE.

Just sayin'.

Granted--but thank goodness the ability to reasonably suspend disbelief still exists, otherwise we'd be taking a heck of a lot more rhetoricians to task for using hyperboles that aren't meant to be taken literally. Hope the weather's nice in the southern parts, at least.

haha, yes, oh, you know, the other half of the world is going into SPRING, but ho hum, "tropics and California"

That's okay, posts like this just show this person hasn't traveled there yet. Once you go it's kind of hard to forget to include the Southern Hemisphere in sweeping generalizations.

Dont be fooled. Just because its meant to be coming into spring/summer doesnt mean its getting warm. I am currently sitting inside, wearing a jacket with the heat pump on lol. Our "summers" are not too flash! This looks delicious by the way, id move to make it!

haha I know, I've actually traveled to Australia and the southern parts quite a bit, and the weather there can be so topsy-turvy (as with anywhere, I guess!). Thanks for the comment, tinytracy--I hope you get a chance to try out this recipe!

Thanks for posting this! My girlfriend takes yogurt and granola to work with her pretty much every day, so I'm always baking up fresh batches for her. I like to surprise her with different variations on granola, and this will be a good one to try!

That's awfully sweet of you! Can you come here and make some granola for me, too, please? :) Pretty please?

Sure! From the comment below, it looks like you're in the Bay Area--just buy me a plane ticket and I'll make you all the granola you can eat! :)

Buy me a ticket while you two are at it! I'd love to visit home, and then we can all have a granola bonanza.

Oh hey now, we have slight climate changes here in the bay! I swear that some leaves change here in the fall, too... and our springtime comes in February (much to my former New Englander born and raised delight) which means that, while the rest of the world is miserable, we're seeing pretty pink and white blooms in the trees. :)

While it may not be as drastic as my New England roots are used to, it is indeed something. Replace snow with rain.. and green grass in the summer with green grass in the winter/early spring. (A little backwards, I know.)

We left the skylight open last night and woke up to a very chilly loft this morning! Brrrrr!

Anyway, while it's not what I am used to - 4 years here versus 25 back east - I can't really complain too much. The weather is almost perfect. Now, I don't think you could lure me to So.Cal.. I'm pretty sure it looks mostly the same there year round. But Bay/Northern CA is just fine. :)

And the recipe looks delicious!

Thanks, spracker! It's so funny because I'm a Bay native, and you're totally right about socal being pretty much an infernal desert the year round--you're lucky to be up there! Hope you get a chance to try this, and enjoy the mild autumn!

This looks awesome, I need an excuse to have a group over in the morning who likes home made breakfast cereal.

Was turned onto home made granola by an evil fourth grade teacher who had a 'breakfast crusade," and didn't like me. Teacher was a bitch, but the home made granola was amazing.
