July Poll and August Theme

Hi Bakers! Time for our monthly poll!

Lets us know which of these 5 entries is your favourite:

Poll July Poll

For the month of August, our theme will be YEAST.

Baking with yeast intimidates a lot of bakers, but once you understand how to look after these little microorganisms you'll discovered it's actually pretty easy.

For those who have never baked with yeast before, here's a quick tip. When a recipe asks you to proof your yeast (i.e. make sure it is alive), many bakers make the mistake of shocking the yeast by adding liquid that is too hot. You need the water to be warm -- the 'ideal' temperature differs from baker to baker, but it will be around 38°C/100°F. If you can't be fussed with measuring the temperature or don't have the means to, test the liquid on your wrist. It should feel pleasantly warm and not burn, the same as if you were preparing a baby's bottle.
