tres (y medio) leches

Jul 13, 2012 00:10

first time post even though I've lurked (and loved) this community for a while. and what a better first post than a birthday post? I made my own cake and decided to go with one of my favorites - tres leches. I've stuck with the awesome recipe from The Pioneer Woman for quite a while and decided to do a few little tweaks, hence, tres y medio leches.

Yeah tres leche! My husband is more of a cook than a baker, so for his first real baking experiment he made a tres leche. It turned out really well too. We shared it with the office staff at the rental community where we live.

Happy birthday!

Actually, "leche" is a female word, therefore the right thing would be to say "y media".

The cake looks awesome, btw :D

oops, this is what I get for coming from a spanish-speaking family and not actually learning the language!

I hate to be that kind of person, but with whatever filter you used over the pictures, I can barely tell what texture you're refering to.

I'm really sorry about the quality of the pictures! the lighting in my kitchen is very yellow-y? so the filter is mainly to fix the color and make it not look weird/discolored, plus it's not that high quality of a photo so the texture barely came out itself. I'll keep it in mind if/when I make another post!

How long do you let it cool before you flip it?

usually about 30 minutes if it's in the refrigerator, an hour if it's just left out. I've found that some parts of it do fall off even if it's completely cool (two or three hours)!
