I tweaked a recipe from Sandra Lee's addition to Food Network's 12 Days of Cookies and came up with something delicious. The original recipe* got terrible reviews, with good reason, but the idea of peppermint sugar cookies really appealed to me so I played with it a bit and came up with this. Oh my gosh! Thank you! I've been looking for a cookie that has the peppermint candy INSIDE. I will be trying this today, I hope!

Oooh, I hope you enjoy them! They're so good, nice and soft with just the right amount of peppermint.

Well, I am waiting for them to be ready to bake right now. I realized all too late that I lacked peppermint extract to add, so I just put in the candies. I also added red food coloring so we could tell them apart. I'll let you know how they turn out!
