Hm, my boyfriend actually made bread and butter pudding yesterday! Let's see if I can remember his recipe off the top of my head...
Heat 300ml double cream and 300ml milk in a pan with an opened vanilla pod. Heat until nearly boiling then set aside to cool a little. Whisk 3 eggs and 100g sugar until frothy. Cut the crusts off your bread, butter, and cut into triangles, and spread out over the bottom of a well-greased dish. Soak about 100g sultanas in warm water so they plump up. Sieve the hot cream mixture into the eggs and sugar and whisk together, then pour over the bread. Sprinkle the sultanas over the top. Put in the fridge for a couple of hours/overnight so the bread soaks up the cream. Preheat oven to 150C and grate nutmeg over the top of the pudding and bake for 1 - 1.5 hours. Halfway through sprinkle icing sugar over the top to help it brown up and crisp on top.
Not a recipe for bread pudding, but if you have loads of bread to use, whizz it in the blender (or grate it if you are gadget poor) and make breadcrumbs. You can store them in a tub in the freezer for ages, and make all sorts of breaded baked delights!
I don't use a recipe, just throw it together and mix until it looks right. But I used dried cranberries and chopped dark chocolate mixed in, it was awesome.

It tends to be a little more "pudding-like" than a lot of other bread pudding recipes.
