Wow.. wow. Would that work with a heartier Italian bread rather than Challah? Also, I always get excited when someone is using a film camera. I know what I'm voting for in the contest.
It actually wasn't too bad! I made it for a family dinner at my parents' house, so I made the bread pudding part at home. The drive to their house took about an hour, so that was the perfect time for the bread to soak. I threw it in the oven there when we arrived. Once it was done, I put it in the refrigerator while we ate dinner and socialized.
When it was time for dessert, I made the cider caramel sauce in the kitchen there and served! :)

Yes, I'm certain it would work with any chunky bread. I'm thinking of using brioche next time.
