dead silence is like a ringing in the ears.... mostly because it follows some kind of sound. your ears almost feel like they're popping from the change, and the recollection of the sound that left still lingers in the space. you've never had silence? the best example is when the power goes out. when NOTHING is on and everything is still. Next time that happens, just sit and take it in.... it's surreal.
Complete silence...is like what japan_fan said. It's like...it's so unnerving sometimes.
Whether I find it peaceful or not depends on the situation. Most of the time I can't stand it. You can hear your house creak and almost every small noise. I also tend to freak myself out when it's silent and I'm alone, especially at night. I don't think I've ever enjoyed it actually. I always have music playing. Well, ok, yeah...mornings are the only time I appreciate complete silence. It's a different story at night...I sometimes freak myself out.
It also kind of makes me restless. I've never liked complete silence in class, it's too weird. I don't know why I think that though.
It's a little unnerving, I suppose. But complete silence is a little difficult to find. There's always a bird singing somewhere or a tree falling down.
