My first drafts tend to be riddled with them. Because if I stop to figure out the mechanics, I'll lose all momentum.

I understand completely. It took me a long time to feel okay in leaving placeholders for later drafts. Now, I'm all "BEHOLD, THE POWER OF THE MIGHTY PLACEHOLDER!" :D
