*Walburga tends to her correspondence after breakfast, so the small mercy is that she doesn't face the invitation on an empty stomach. Still, after slitting the envelope with an elegant silver letter-opener and reading its contents two or three times, she feels rather faint with confusion--and, in truth, no small amount of betrayal. It's only after quickly reassuring herself that the invitations were erroneously sent that she can summon the wherewithal to compose a suitably polite reply in her flowery copperplate.*
My Dear Esmerelda,
I confess myself thoroughly confused by your last. I recall the last time I enjoyed your company the subject of Evan's betrothal briefly came up. I honestly wonder if I must remind you that Regulus and Victoria were first betrothed? If you've forgotten, you silly thing, surely you must realize that it is only proper that they will be first married.
As your dear friend I also must gently remind you that one month's notice is not precisely within the realms of propriety--as "modern" as you may be in your

*It is only to be expected, but it comes so soon after the invitations themselves go out, and Walburga is close enough to call upon its impropriety in every obvious way, and her wrist is still twinging, and it is her writing hand, so the note is short and to the point. There are a thousand and one other things to attend to--she must find the strength to get the beast-bride herself in for an appointment with a seamstress to discuss dresses and bridesmaids--and she hasn't the time to be delicate with Walburga's feelings.*
Dear Walburga,
I assure you they are not in error. I do hope to see you and yours in attendance on this joyful occasion.
*Esmerelda's reply doesn't soothe her in the slightest: in fact, Walburga's heart is pounding as she sets down the letter. This temporary insanity on Esmerelda's part cannot go on. She will simply have to see reason. After flipping through the elegant calendar on her desk with a shaking hand, Walburga seizes upon a solution: she will simply talk some sense into her in person. Her reply does not include an R.S.V.P.*
Dear Esmerelda,
My mistake.
I am sure you must be terribly busy with all the planning. Shall I still expect you for tea on the 28th?
*If it were anyone else, there would be a polite refusal. But it's Walburga, and if she must make her excuses in person, she must make her excuses in person, and then Walburga, being herself, will in turn be able to make those same excuses for her later on. This is not, she thinks, an inconvenience; this is cultivating an ally.*
*Though the short notice does make Aurora's eyebrows raise in an over the top, almost theatrical manner, she thinks nothing of Regulus Black's engagement, nor does she bother wondering when her dear Damien will meet a lovely young woman to settle down with. He is so very busy, and while she absolutely abhors what he is sometimes busy doing, she has long since come to the grudging conclusion that he will follow in her excuse for a husband's footsteps.
With a sigh and a slightly knotted eyebrows, Aurora's reply is short and sweet.*
Dear Rosier Family,
We would love to be in attendance for such a special day.
Sincerely,
*She supposes in the eyes of some, she should refer to herself as Mrs. Demetrius Mulciber. But Aurora has never been as much of a stickler to tradition and propriety as she may seem.*
*Antonin put's an "X" in the box confirming his attendance, the ink bleeding out in all directions. He scratches a small reply on the reverse side, praying to whatever gods were out there that Esmerelda would be the one to find the letter first.*
Raven,
Even though I fucked this up, I'm hoping that there will be a payment for my efforts.
I'm sure you haven't the faintest of the amount of work that goes into putting on a wedding, but I find myself suddenly busy in the extreme. If I can pencil you in, I will, but I doubt it will be possible.
Your tuxedo fitting is at Twilfit & Tatting's at your leisure. It will be on the Rosier account, naturally. Pick something nice. I trust Evan has informed you that you will be the best man?
*Bellatrix sets aside some time every morning for correspondence--it's one of her few truly ladylike habits--and can't help a small smirk as she composes a reply in her elegant hand.*
Dear Esmerelda,
Of course Rodolphus and I will be delighted to attend.
