*Hestia is thankful that her boss is out of office for the day when a large post owl swoops in through the window and lands in front of her onto a stack of papers, the topmost whose wet ink smudges with each shift of the owl's feet.
The flowers take her by surprise, but she smiles knowingly and grabs a spare sheet of parchment and scratches a reply, sending off the barn owl with it in tow.*
*It's Nugget that returns, behaving almost decorously in the hushed atmosphere of the office.*
Hestia,
I'm glad you like them.
I am absolutely free tonight, would you like to come over? Fabian's being served for dinner off for a jaunt in Scotland and the place is a bit empty, if actually looking neat for once. I'll be happy to slave for hours over a hot box of takeaway, if that is your wish.
*The flat is arguably neater than it's ever been. Not because Fabian made most of the mess--although he did--but because without him there is a lot less beer and laughing and talking and impromptu arm-wrestling matches, and a lot more wandering around bored talking to Nugget and straightening up the place--not that Gideon would ever admit such a thing.
Still, it's quite, quite neat, and quite, quite empty, and at three minutes to seven Gideon finds himself pacing and waiting for Hestia. He's always anticipated seeing her, looked forward to it, sometimes all day, but he's never quite paced, before.*

Gideon,
They're just beautiful. Thank you.
Are you free tonight? I get off work at 7.
