This line was wonderfully lovely, especially: The looks his father reserved for her eyes showed his sadness, (which she could just about take) and his love (which she could not).
(And I totally should have had a fic ready for Tama's birthday and I have forgotten. Horrible! And oh, what a lovely image of Tamaki taking over his father's role with all of his lovely eloquence.
My hearts breaks and it is very shiny!

I think you did a fine job of not only conveying Tamaki's mother's thoughts and perceptions, but also what it felt like to be in her body when she was sick and weak.
I especially liked this line:
She was used to being dismissed, cast aside, but she wasn't easily defeated.
