Fic: Bright Young Thing (JLU/Star Trek)

May 11, 2007 22:50

I present you what would be the most self-indulgent fic ever, if xparrot hadn't asked for it in the "fics you'll never write" meme:

fic you won't write, because you're not, y'know, insane: Q/source!Lex (with Lex still secretly pining for Clark, such that Q might be inspired to get them together just to get him to shut up)But, you see, I am that insane ( Read more... )

jlu, star trek, meme, fic

SQUEE!!!! This may be the BEST CROSSOVER EVER! (Picard/Q was some of the first slash I ever read, long long ago).

I think you should do MORE of this story.

I might do more Picard/Q (although you can't be sure about that, since it sort of took me two years to write as much as this - I mean, I wrote this in one go yesterday, but I've been trying my hand at Picard and Q for some time. I don't really ship them except in the most platonic sense, though.)

I can't really imagine a fully satisfied Lex. At least not for any length of time. ;)

*is speechless*

NEVER thought I'd read a Star Trek/SV-DC crossover.... but I just couldn't pass up Q! ;) Q is like THE BEST tv character EVER! :D He would definitely enjoy antagonizing Lex. *grins*

There's no crossover that Q doesn't somehow fit in. He's universally awesome!

I adore this! And it would be beyond great if you could expand on it; the image of Lex as a god, popping in to tease Clark (much as Q teases Picard) is utterly awesome. And if other members of the Justice League were present, from time to time, that would just add to the fun. Imagine Batman's reaction to Lex's godhood, especially with the Clark-fixation thrown in.... *gives you hopeful look* Any chance?

*bravely tries not to pout* Then I will just have to reread what you've written here. Many, many times....

Two afterthoughts: When Q looked at Lex and said, "It's beautiful," I took him to mean the anti-life equation, which both Lex and Darkseid described in the same way; was I right about that? Also, just how did Q word his suggestion about Lex taking up a hobby? (I'm guessing Superman was involved.)

Hee. Yeah, I was quoting "Destroyer" there, which I have watched far too many times. It's not that simple, though. Q means Lex, but Lex incorporates the Anti-Life equation now. I wavered between "it" and "he", but with the "it", Q's remark carries a triple meaning: he's talking about Lex, the equation, and the fact that Lex used to be human before he became part of the Source.

And Q made it clear in his suggestion that he was referring to Lex's unfinished business with Superman, but he didn't actually "word" the suggestion - Q and Source!Lex wouldn't communicate in human language, it's far too imperfect a tool. (That's why this fic was from Picard's POV - a fic with only Q and Source!Lex in it wouldn't really be comprehensible at all. Way, way too metaphysical.)

Yes, I see what you mean. And I agree with Q -- though I also think Lex is beautiful even without the Anti-Life equation.

I can see that being Source!Lex's favorite hobby. *eg*

Makes sense to me. Or, rather, it wouldn't, which is why it does. :)
