I wanted to go to Occupy Frankfurt today but I failed because of EARLY MORNINGS. At least it's no surprise to me that my political convictions < my epic laziness. Well, now I've got time to

Ravens flying by? You are ten times more perceptive than me (Who'd have thunk?). I didn't even notice that Stuttgart was not actually Stuttgart, though there were certainly enough sandstone buildings and opera advertisment. And don't worry to much about the character sheet. I know you guys and will have my files with me. I guess the host has a working printer.
By the way, Any good ideas what to GM at the Heidelcon? I'm a bit bummed, at the moment.
Yay, no character sheet means I don't have to clean my room! (Because it's probably buried under the mountain of debris that is my desk)
I'm not really sure what we've got already in terms of games - I think someone may be offering something with superheroes, and there'll probably be Freies Rollenspiel, and there's always Call of Cthulhu and probably Chill (sort of a mix between mystery, James Bond, and Pulp). Rifts might be a good idea if you offer people some crazy character choices. Or you could offer Dresden Files, although I'm not sure how many people know the Dresden verse - I do, Thomas and Friedi have read Summer Knight, Merlin too if he shows up, possibly other people as well. Or how about some alternative history scenario? I know you like them, and GURPS could do that because there's interdimensional travel.
Didn't notice the ravens in the movie, but I love the image.
The part with the magpies was the first thing that one me over about JiM. I did a recommendation squee post about it a while back, and I love what the writer is doing with the book. Also, don't forget that in Norse mythology magpies are sometimes messengers between Hel and the realms of the living (what with the black and white plumage, etc). It's so perfect. The series is really going out of its way to establish this mythological flair with the narration. And then there's all the meta and fourth wall breaking and symbolism going on. Really a joy to read.
Yes, your recs are what motivated me to buy the tpbs! I had read lots of it before on scans_daily, but most of the time I consider comics something that is just not available at reasonable prices, and we have no proper comics shop in Heidelberg.
Glad I could infect someone! (I have this terrible fear that it could get cancelled any day because of bad sales figures-- and then I'd have to read literature again)
Comic prices really are a bit ridiculous. 4 USD for 16 pages (+ 8 pages of ads :p)? c'mon!
And I have the same problem. And I'd have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to the nearest comic shop that would let me subscribe to US issues. So I order them online instead. Good thing I don't have any other expensive hobbies atm. :/
Earlier volumes of JiM are not required reading (I haven't read them). Having seen the Thor movie helps a bit, too, because then you know who the Warrior's Three are if you didn't already. Other things you need to know... well, Loki and Balder both sacrificed themselves to save Asgard before this, and before THAT Loki was female and pretended to be reformed and then he did lots of really evil stuff with Doctor Doom (which is the reason Tyr is dead and hanging out with Hel) so no one is particularly keen on having him back. I think the second trade paperback of this volume is more problematic because it's a tie-in to a big Marvel Event, Fear Itself, which again I haven't read and in some places I felt it suffered from the tie-in. But the first tpb is very self-contained.
