Home alone

I'm home alone this weekend as Dave is in the Cairngorms on a winter mountaineering skills course.  So it's just me and the dogs and three DVDs from the library.  But the DVD player is on the blink and I had to watch the last third of "Hard Candy" on the laptop.

Hard Candy is a very, very odd and disturbing film.  It has the grand total of four ( Read more... )

My first thought is that I'm so glad Dave is feeling well enough to do a mountaineering skills program! huzzah!

My second thought is that it's too damn bad that we don't live about 4,600 miles closer to each other or we could go for tea and hang out and chit chat and have a great time without the boys.

Yeah, it would be good to get together for tea and then perhaps a walk with the dogs :) This is the thing about the net, you get to meet all sorts of really excellent people, but the chances of meeting up with most of them in real life are so small, and it's just gutting!

Dave is feeling quite a lot better now, we have been eating a totally vegetarian diet since the first week of January, he's lost quite a lot of weight and the headaches have gone (and guess what, I have lost no weight at all!! I guess I have a set point and my body is sticking to it) Although the aim of the veggie food is not to lose weight but to cut down on saturated fat, so it's been a case of trying to think of interesting things to do with beans and chick peas! We'll see if it makes any difference when he goes back for more tests in April.

It's definitely worth it, but it's a difficult thing to watch. I never thought I would feel a twinge of sympathy for a paedophile, but I couldn't help myself at one point :-/ Very thought provoking indeed.
