Retail Therapy IRL

Decided that I would go to Carlisle to go shopping today as I have hardly left the house for three weeks apart from to go to hospital and work because of my back.  I needed to visit Lush for shampoo and conditioner so thought this was a good opportunity to do some proper shopping In Real Life!  This all tied in well as Dave is currently filling in ( Read more... )

I'll bet that felt GOOD to get out! And how fun to get out for a shopping spree. Are you going back for the boots?

We want to see pictures of you in your new outfits. Yes, we do.

And what LUSH shampoo/conditioner do you use?

Yay, it was definitely good to get out, I don't feel quite as much like an invalid now as I have recently.

Unfortunately, I can't go back for the boots as it's over an hours drive to get back to Carlisle and I just don't have the time this week. So it looks like acquiring new boots is off now :( Its probably for the best as they had a 3-4" heel and wearing heels is the last thing I should be doing at the moment.

I use Rehab shampoo and American Cream conditioner. I've grown my hair longer than its ever been this year (its now halfway down my back) and I find that it still gets slightly greasy at the roots, but quite dry and flyaway down the length. For some reason this combination of shampoo and conditioner really works well, so I'll stick with it!

I *may* take photos, but as its not really an outfit I got, its not going to look all that spectacular :P

Ooo, what a perfect idea! Going for a shopping spree the first time you go out for a long walk. :) It sounds like you had an awesome time. I know you've got a coat now but you might want to check out ebay for what you were originally looking for. There's a lot of winter stuff on there currently as people prepare for spring/summer. I also nabbed some awesome boots on there (for under £20) so if you don't head back to Debenhams that might be an option.

As for your fitness, it will come back once your back is in better shape. I've been surprised at how quickly I'm improving with my running despite a month off and taking it very easy. I've even taken more days off than I planned and I'm still seeing tiny, steady improvements. I'm sure the same will be true for you.

Ebay would be great for coats apart from I have broad shoulders and a big bust, which makes coat buying quite difficult as if its big enough round the shoulders and boobs, its massive round the waist. Coats are one of those things I have to try on as nine times out of ten, they don't fit right.

I may try for boots though, that is a cool idea.

I have to say, I felt stiff last night after all the walking, but I feel suprisingly unscathed today apart from a little numbness and stiffness in my left leg. Fingers crossed things will continue improve for me (although I can't see me scaling many mountains in the near future )

I did the same as you today and stayed in bed until later on in the afternoon today - 2:30 - totally scandalous behaviour ;)

Ah, I see your problem with coats/jackets and I have similar. My shoulders are very wide and my bust is a good D cup so it can be tricky finding coats that fit me well. I actually need to replace my very battered leather jacket some time so I should start shopping (any excuse!).

I'm glad to hear you're feeling okay today after the walk! Have you tried taking glucosamine supplements to help with recovery? I used to take them for a shoulder injury that damaged the ligaments and joint; it helped reduce inflammation, and therefore pain, and is also supposed to help the the healing. Scientific research on it is not 100% conclusive but it is usually recommended by health and sports professional since it can't do any harm. I wonder if it would help with your back?
