Thanks for requesting First Love Monster! We tend to agree with you on the "Hm, I don't know" opinion. Sometimes the comedy is really good, but most of the time it seems to rely on the situation being funny in and of itself, and it doesn't play on anything enough to keep the humor coming. I do admit, though, I thought it was really funny that Jouji ran away from home because his mom took his Pokemon cards.

Sometimes it seems to be getting better.

Yes, and his most priced possession is a card. I don't know if the characters' designs were their age, would I enjoy it more? Someone must like it at Yen to license it or it's part of a package, who knows.
I like to know more about Kaho and her family situation.

I don't think the character designs are the problem for Athena and me, so much as we just don't share the manga artist's sense of humor. So the question would be how did you like Inu X Boku? We only saw one episode, so this might not be a great comparison, but the humor in both was very similar. (Like, it wasn't the same jokes, but the humor seemed to have the same sense to it.)

I haven't read Inu X Boku manga (I'll see if it's available in libraries) I did watch the whole anime season on Crunchyroll. I liked that one ok, I don't remember much about the humor, I do remember wanting to know about the ending since anime ended earlier than manga.
