All those dusty brain cells seem to be in mostly working order despite their overly long cold storage - After my first full semester back it appears that I have made straight A's across the board. Summer semester 2 is now off and running and I have managed to pull A's on both of my 1st tests for History 1302 and Am Govt 2302 ... and i'm feeling

I think that as long as the program at University of Houston is adequate, you should go there. 3 years is a not-insignificant time span, and you and your family's quality of life during that time is important. I think that the exact type of degree or study won't be a deal breaker for employers once you are out working in the field.
(My experience with formal education and normal employment is out of date, and I have never worked in a technical field, so it is possible that I lack data about this, but that's what I have observed.)
And again...I think that you moving to Beacon is the best idea I've heard all day. Week. Year.
