none of that makes you a bad parent

it makes your landlord a bad landlord, but that's all

personally, i would look for new accommodations ASAP, I know it sucks when you have to move with kids, but if it's already taken a year to fix obvious damage, how long will it take to fix not so obvious damage

You can buy test kits.
To find out if it truly is stachybotrys chartarum, you are going to have to get tests done on the spores and your blood by an accredited lab.

oooh those symptoms werent listed on the other site. We all are having issues with quite a few of them.. though most of them i was blaming no my constant migraines (memory loss, and sheer stupid moments). Thanks. Im going to write out a list of the symptoms that I have been having, as well as a list for my kids doc of theirs.

i'm not sure what you can do to test for it, but if it comes back that that's what's causing your family to be sick, i would sue the SHIT out of the landlord.

totally intend to sue if i can prove we are having medical issues related to any mold, let alone black mold.

Anytime you have that much water damage, there's almost certain to be mold of some kind unless the water damaged portions were totally replaced, which in your case it sounds obvious that they were not.

Black mold isn't anything to mess around with, and based on the "responsiveness" of your landlord to sorely needed and long overdue repairs, I'd second the motion to be looking for a new place to live. It's a hassle, but your health is worth it. Since your landlord won't even fix damage to your place, expecting them to inform you about possible health hazards seems to be giving them a lot more credit than they are due.

they told me that there was no risk right after the original damage. I the full issues I am having with them about it in my journal.. from beginning to end (well, i havent written about the lawyer thing yet, as that just started monday, and i wont know if they are helping me until friday).

warning... lots and lots of reading with multiple links and such. My doc office just called back to ask why i am asking for the test and are debating if they should offer the blood test or if i should be seen before ordering the test. I told them my main concern was to find out if there was a test, so i could consider it for myself, but definitely talk to the kids doc about getting them tested. They were a bit shocked I have waited so long too.

could this be related to the really awful migrained you were (are?) having? I mean, since headaches are a symptom, could it be making yours worse? I hope you're doing better and that the mold problem gets fixed so you can all be healthy!
