just little wobbly thoughts, because i'm tired:
what are you describing, when you talk about people at Burning Man "treating you more as a male"? (it occurs to me, again, that i need to get off my ass and do some serious playing with boy-drag.)
the one time i was out on the playa, from what i remember, i dressed not far from my usual casual-comfy-clothes. if anything, apart from the Critical Tits bodypainting and ride, i felt like i was slipping more under the gender-radar than usual. perhaps due to showing less skin than most of the biofemale people there? (less than most people there, generally. sunburn on bits of me that rarely see the sun = not fun.)
So what do I want? Perhaps I want a society where people make fewer assumptions about others' genders.amen to that. one thing i love about my yoga class is that it's a specifically queer/genderqueer-friendly space, and i find that i really do enjoy and feel comfortable in situations where gender is often something that i clearly just can't know unless i ask. it reminds me to pay

It is possible that the center is just a bit shifted. Certainly there was some expectation that female-identified people would do the burningman-femme thing.
It's hard to put my finger on what I mean by "treating me more as male". There are some things that are relatively obvious, like making mildly misogynistic comments with the expectation of agreement, but those really aren't the bulk of what I mean. I'll think about it more.
:) I shall attempt to come sometime, then. Any idea how long it takes to T there from Somerville? Does your lj email work? (Though I can bring more-than-enough spheres myself, too)
I've never been to the sunday MIT juggling thing, but I've been told it's a bit focused on numbers juggling, which is totally not my thing. I've also been told it's less open to newcomers than the Friday thing, which I've been to a lot. Unfortunately the Friday thing is during work :(
i think i've teed there once from my house in somerville, but i'm in winter hill and so the nearest t stop to me is the orange line, which is the line the stop a block away from spontaneous is on. i think it was on the order of 30 minutes, but i could be off in either direction by a factor of 2. stupidly i don't even remember how long it took me to bike there, though i did that for a while. depending on where in somerville you are it's not inconceivable that you could get a ride with someone else, possibly even me. :) but having a toddler, who i usually bring with me, makes me sometimes slightly flakier even than normal about scheduling, so i might not be the most reliable longterm solution; however i'd be delighted to offer you a ride the first time if it'd help. (the first one's free! ;) ) it takes about 20-25 min to drive from my house, but my house is practically the best-case for somerville since i'm right by 93
