Long Live the King!

OK, time for a Space Race sequel. Yes, I already did one of those, which sputtered out when I learned that:

1) keeping track of five variables per person takes more time than I've got.

2) A programmable spreadsheet is an absolute necessity.

3) It is quite possible to crash MS Excel by trying to make it do stuff it's not designed to do.

Nevertheless, the effort seemed to be well-received. And I was charmed to see multicellular organisms evolve by turn three, including one that was essentially a eukaryote and its mitochondrion.

But that's the past, this is now, and the situation in the Kingdom is dire. The king is old, and under a curse, preventing him from siring an heir. Unless he chooses a successor who is at least somewhat acceptable to most, his death will start a civil war. No one wants this, except possibly the Blue Empire to the South, who might take advantage of the disorder to add more provinces to their territory.
