I'm now officially everywhere....

In case anyone is interested, I am now on AO3 (as well as everywhere else, lol), thanks to usakiwigirl who is all kinds of awesome!

All 13 of my fics (I wrote 13? Wow!) are now available there as well as on here, dreamwidth and ff.net. I think I have all bases covered!

And to avoid confusion (mostly mine, because if I changed it I'd never find myself again), my ( Read more... )

thanks, real life

well done! I am still migrating my fics to DW and AO3 looks like a good option too now that FFnet is being a bit picky with ratings ...

It does seem to be good on AO3, and fics are really ease to read there. I'm quite impressed with how it all looks. Nothing fancy, just nice and clear!

I'm lucky that all my fics are harmlessly fluffy, so I haven't had the problems on ff.net that a lot of people seem to be having.

I can't get a handle on DW, but I think that might me by browsers fault. Can I hire someone to import my stuff over there.

Lol. Whoo for getting everything bought over.

Lol! I don't know who you could hire, but it would need to be someone knowledgeable about computers and stuff! Which is not me. I managed to learn the basics, eventually, but sadly I'm never going to be Tosh. The average 5 year old is probably better with computers than I am!

I copy and pasted everything onto AO3 so I could have the two Nosy-Verse fics I had to cut in half because of LJ back in one piece as they're meant to be. It was nowhere near as difficult as I expected - the fiddliest bit was filling in all the tags, pairings etc. and writing any relevant notes. I was quite pleased with the results and I've already had quite a few hits and even a few reviews. I'm happy.

Still wondering wehether I should have an account over on Teaspoon though - it's mostly Doctor Who, but it does have a Torchwood category... I believe in spreading the fluff around, lol!

Back to work, poor you! Hope the week isn't being too tiring *hugs*

I tried to get an invite code in case anyone wanted one, but they aren't giving them out at the moment. I'll keep trying.

usakiwigirl said she had to wait three months to get on AO3, I hope you won't be waiting that long. They do seem to have a long waiting list, I just got lucky.

Have a good friday!

Love, J xxx

Well done you :-)
It took me long enough to get around to signing up to LJ - dont think I'll be joining you in migrating to the other sites for quite a while yet!

Congratulations! That site seems user-friendly and very organized--from a reader's perspective, at any rate. I've thought about signing up for an account but have been daunted by the long waiting list. Should I just put my name on it and hope for the best?

Eta: You mentioned possibly getting a Teaspoon account--I've got one of those. The plus side is that the quality of the fics overall tends to be higher than on, say, ff.net. The downside is that it doesn't seem like many Torchwood fans actually go there. My three Doctor Who fics there have garnered more reviews than all my TW fics put together. And the interface that lets you upload fics is quirky and painstaking (Or at least it was, I've slacked off posting there in the last few months.) For what it's worth.

I tried to get an invite, but they're not giving them out at the moment. I'll keep trying though, you never know!

I've heard the wait is (or at least was) about three months, which is a long time to be waiting. I think it's worth getting on AO3 if you can, but with a wait like that you might be better off putting out an appeal for an invite, see if anyone's got one to spare. You might get lucky.

Hmmm, thanks for the info on Teaspoon. I'll keep thinking about that. It still might be worth it to give Teaspooners a chance to read my fics if they want, especially as I'd then be able to review some that I've enjoyed. Worth considering, anyway.

I have an extra invite I sent you. Put my self of the waiting list moths ago with 2 email addresses. Hopefully that one will work.

Yippee! I was able to get an invite months ago, and I'm still lurking there at the moment. I haven't even finished putting all my fics on DW yet! *groans* I've now decided that I'm not even going to bother with ff.net since this whole rating thing came up.

I'm at A03 under the same username by the way, in case you wanted to subscribe to me there (the link's located on the left-hand side of my LJ page). :)

Yay! Obviously, for my next trick I'll have to figure out how to subscibe to people over there o_O

I'm what you might call technically challenged, lol! I did manage to select a skin over there - most seem very ordinary, but there's one with pandas! =D

Glad you're sticking to the same username, it makes finding people so much easier! I'll learn, I'm sure, just rather slowly.

ff.net was the first place after LJ that I set up in once I started writing. It has good and bad points but I do like being able to review over there if I read something good, and there are some good authors there who aren't on LJ. It's unlikely I'll have any rating problems over there with my fluff but for those who write things a bit more adult in nature it's not so easy. Still, I think ff.net is important, it gives young people a place where they can get into writing and improve their craft in a relatively safe environment. I just wish they had an MA category. In a way, they do, because there's adult ff.net, but I don't think many people go there.

I try to use the same username whenever I can, as I agree that it makes things easier. My Twitter and YouTube handles are different because I see those mediums as separate from fic writing.

A03's search engine isn't the most reliable, and I finally just searched the Torchwood feed until I found you! *gigglesnort* Just search the fandoms, and you'll likely find the authors you know. There's quite a few mutual friends who have gone to A03.

I wasn't aware there was an adult version of ff.net. I should consider looking into that, as I don't think there can be too many places to post stories. ;)

I think if you just google adult ff.net you should finf it. It's a bit different and you have to sign in to prove you're old enough, but there are some fics there. Haven't been looking recently though, so I'm just assuming it still exists, lol!

Yeah, I've noticed that about AO3s search engine. Oh well, can't have everything I guess. Glad you were able to find me! I'll look you up there tomorrow if I remember, when my brain is hopefully functioning a bit better, since it just hit midnight and I'm about to turn into a pumpkin, lol!
