END GAY 'CURES' NOW!

This is extremely important...

Dear friend,

I just signed a petition to put a stop to phony gay "cures" happening right now in Australia and the UK - as part of a global tour of treatment sessions.

This has to stop. These gay "cures" are extremely dangerous and so damaging it drives many to self-harm and even suicide. The governments of France and ( Read more... )

I know! I thought these so-called "cures" for being gay were long gone - to find it's still happening, it makes my blood boil!

I recently heard an interview with Alan Chambers, the president and champion of the international organization responsible for pushing the "Gay Cure". It was disturbing in so many ways.

He has recently admitted that the program doesn't work. It didn't even work on HIM. The interview was disturbing because of how baffled and sad he sounded that his life's work was for a naught, and I almost felt sorry for him. And I didn't want to.

You'd think with this admission, people would re-think or cancel the programs like the one you linked to. But instead the monster rampages on, destroying lives. It makes me so mad.

Here's an article about Chambers if anyone's interested: New York Times

Ahem. I'll go sign that petition now.

Thanks for signing, all sane people need to sign this petition. I only discovered this morning through remuslives23 's post that this barbaric practice was still happening. I have seldom been so angry. If Chambers himself admits it doesn't work, then why are people still being put through the so called "cure"? It's frightening to think of the harm that is being done to people just because some folk are of the opinion that gay people are somehow abnormal. Where will it end?

I have already signed it but it is impossible to believe what these people are doing, especially here in Argentina that we have recognized same sex civil partnership and we have had many unions in the last five years, the last one was on the news because both men belonged to the Army.

narrow-minded people piss me off!

Me too! The whole idea that gay people are being treated as if they have a disease that needs to be cured... it's disgusting and does untold harm.

I had no idea this sort of thing was still going on in our "civilised" country. It makes me sick!
I watched an interesting documentary a few years back called "The Making of Me" with John Barrowman investigating what makes a person gay. Check it out on youtube if you havent seen it. In the show he talks to a man who went through one of these "cure" programs. It was really disturbing to watch. I can't imagine what that poor man and many others like him went through, simply for being themselves!

I saw The Making of Me when it was on TV, it was enlightening but disturbing in psrts, especially that poor man. Until today, I honestly though the barbaric practice of trying to "cure" gay people was a thing of the past. It horrified me that it is still going on, all over the world. I couldn't sign the petition fast enough. It's inhuman. I thought the world was becoming more enlightened, but obviously I'm giving humanity too much credit.

I just hope people will continue to spread the word so others can know what is happening and sign the petition.
