MERRY CHRISTMAS! MY BOYS ARE CELEBRATING!

Dec 25, 2014 15:35

Hello, and a very happy festive season to all my friends!

It's Christmas day in Britain, and after battling with my camera for ages, I finally managed to get it to work for long enough to take pictures of my boys enjoying their Christmas breakfast (pretzels) and a full turkey dinner. They're going to be stuffed!

I Love Janto

Love this.
Glad that you got another Ianto.
He will fit right in.
Grapes are better for Nosy anyway.
Our boys are having a wonderful dinner.

I hope everyone had a great day.

I was lucky getting the new Ianto, they are few and far between these days. He was out of his packaging and described as 'used' poor thing. He's happy now!

They had a wonderful day, and enjoyed boxing day too =)

Nosy is very fond of grapes, it'll do anything for a grape - or a sprout!

Thank you!

Looks like all the boys had a lot of fun, with the new Ianto fitting right in :) - Are Christmas Pudding and Mince Pies traditional GB Xmas food? I'm always curious to know what other countries serve on the holidays :)

Very traditional! Right up there with the roast turkey. Probably MORE traditional than the turkey, lol! Different people have different traditions, some prefer a goose for Christmas, or something else.

Mince pies over here are made with mincemeat which has NOTHING to do with meat, it's a sweet mixture of dried fruits and spices, and it's mostly used in small individual pies, served hot, sometimes with brandy butter or custard. Christmas pudding is one of those things people either love or hate, very rich and usually containing alcohol. I like it, but mum hates it, so I rarely have any.

The boys had a lot of fun and got quite stuffed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. New Ianto has settled in very well, he and Coat Jack are very happy together now =)

Hm, I see. Here in Germany a traditional dish for Christmas Eve is either potato salad with wiener sausage or noodle salad. The goose or poached carp is served the next day.

As for sweet stuff we mostly eat bought sweets, mostly chocolate, or you bake cookies. We use for our cookie a recipe based on short pastry.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up! I really thought meat was involved in mince pies XD So they are filled with orangeade and candied lemon peel and stuff? If so, then I fear I wouldn't like it. I was scandalized recently to find that stuff in Heidesand (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heidesand#mediaviewer/File:Heidesand.jpg) of all things *urgh*

LOL! It does have peel in, most recipes say raisins, currants, sultanas, candied peel, apple, brown sugar, shredded suet, lemon juice, things like that. Mum HATES candied peel but loves mincemeat *shrugs* I like both.

Does it have to specifically be carp rather than any other fish? I've never tried carp, I don't think it's even sold over here. The potato salad sounds good!

Better late than never! *hugs* Merry belated Christmas!

The boys had a great time, but I had a nightmare trying to get my old digital camera to work to take the photos!
