I always wondered just how much Buffy was trying to convince herself that nice, normal Riley (so she thought at the time) was what she wanted.

Being in the Angel camp, I was very disappointed in Riley. Not the actor - and I felt bad for the way some fans commented about him personally.

But going from Angel to Riley...

Yeah, a big step down. I'll always be a Buffy/Angel girl. The guy playing Riley just drew the short straw because he was just never going to win over the Angel fans!

(btw, ignore the other reviewer who replied to you. They comment both here and on AO3, spouting god knows what. I never bother reading their reviews anymore.)
