Dee didn't want to hurt JJ, but JJ was just hurting himself bu=y hanging in to an impossible dream.

Poor JJ. What Dee did was harsh, but kind at the same time. I feel bad for both of them because it is a no win situation.

Yeah, Dee had tried to let JJ down gently, but it didn't work. He just didn't want JJ wasting his life pining for someone who'd never love him back. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.
