Summary: Owen’s daughter has hurt herself.

A/N: Double drabble.
“Daddy!” Lily wailed, running towards Owen, “I hurt my finger!”
Owen swept his little girl into his arms, feeling a twinge of guilt over not being there to prevent his precious flower from getting hurt, despite promising the first time he’d held her that he’d always protect her. She was three though, and as endlessly curious as her mum, getting into everything; no matter how badly he wanted to spare her even a moment’s pain, he knew he couldn’t wrap her in cotton wool to keep her safe.
“Let Daddy see.” He studied her tiny finger and the bright drop of blood oozing from the tip, gently wiped it away and checked that nothing was embedded in the wound, then carried her to the kitchen sink, to wash it clean. Dressing the wound, he planted a kiss on it. “There, all better now.” He drew back to look at Lily, wiping her tears away. “Roses have thorns, sweetheart, they’re sharp and they can hurt you, so you have to be careful, okay?””
Lily nodded. “Yes, daddy. Thank you!” She kissed his cheek.
“Run along and play now.” He prayed it would always be this easy to take her pain away.
