A/N: Double drabble.
Owen didn’t have any family he cared to acknowledge. His mum had kicked him out when he was sixteen, and he’d barely spoken to her since then. Katie had suggested, before she’d started to go downhill, that maybe they should think about inviting his mum to their wedding, just so he could rub her nose in how well he’d done for himself, and he’d considered it, because he wasn’t above petty revenge, but…
Well, Katie’s condition had deteriorated so fast, and then she’d been gone, and the last person he wanted to share that news with had been his mum. She hadn’t been supportive of him when he was sixteen, and she wouldn’t be while he was grieving the loss of his beautiful, bubbly fiancée, so… no contact. Why bother?
Then Harkness had come along, offered him a job fighting aliens, and now here he was in Cardiff, working in a secret underground base, patching up the team’s injuries, doling out Retcon to traumatised tourists, and dissecting things that shouldn’t exist.
It was okay, certainly better than being alone, especially now that Christmas was approaching. The team were a weird bunch, but they were okay. A family of dysfunctional misfits.
