A/N: Double drabble.
“It’s not supposed to make that noise, is it?” Gwen didn’t know much about cars, just enough to drive one and fill it up with petrol, but she’d been with Torchwood for more than six months, and as far as she knew, the SUV had never made that noise before, a sort of scraping, clonking sound.
“Why’re you asking me?” Owen scowled at her. “I’m a doctor, not a soddin’ mechanic!”
Gwen gnawed her bottom lip. “Maybe we should pull over and take a look.”
“At what? D’you know anything about car engines?”
“It’s not coming from the engine though, is it? More from the back, underneath.”
Owen kept driving. “Probably the exhaust pipe’s come loose. That track was rougher than I expected.” It had been all hard, dry ruts; driving along it had been like riding a bucking bronco.
“Not much rain lately.” Gwen sounded apologetic.
“Yeah, well, whatever’s wrong, Teaboy will fix it. I just want to get back to the Hub.”
Making it back safely, Gwen hurried to find Ianto.
“The SUV’s making weird noises.”
“I’d better take a look.”
Ianto returned from the garage smirking. “It’s fine, but you brought half a branch back with you.”
