The Doctor had been working on his bizarre contraption for several hours already, muttering to himself and brandishing his sonic screwdriver, attaching random bits and pieces to what looked like an old food mixer welded to an alarm clock.
“Right, Mel, hand me the tinfoil!”
“Tinfoil? What good will that do?”
“What good will it do? It has hundreds of uses that right now I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain, so hurry it up!”
“Whatever you say, Doctor.” Biting her tongue, Mel handed him the foil. “Now what?”
“Now we’re going to foil the Daleks’ plans!”
