A/N: Double drabble.
The Torchwood team were just finishing lunch, which was a minor miracle in itself considering how often their meals were interrupted, when the alarms started blaring out, indicating a Rift flare.
Everyone scattered to their various stations, grabbing their jackets and other gear as Tosh slid into her chair and started pulling the relevant information up on her screens.
“What do we have, Tosh?” Jack asked, shrugging into the coat Ianto was holding for him.
“Inanimate,” Tosh said, pushing her glasses up her nose. “Small, approximately the size of one of our scanners. Readings indicate it’s probably tech of some description.”
“Where are we headed?”
“I just sent the coordinates to the SUV. It’s in Pen-y-Lan, near the university’s halls of residence.”
Jack, who’d already been striding towards the garage, stumbled as he came to an abrupt halt. “Where?”
“Pen-y-Lan,” Tosh repeated.
“That’s what I thought you said.” Jack seemed confused. “So, not Splott?”
“Not this time.”
“But it’s always Splott!”
“When it’s not Butetown, Tremorfa, or Roath,” Ianto added.
“But mostly Splott,” Jack insisted.
Ianto inclined his head. “It would seem that Splott has fallen out of favour with the Rift.” He quirked a smile. “It may never recover.”
