Baking with Jack was an adventure, and an education. He’d picked up a wide range of skills over his long life, although he was better at some things than others. Cooking was one of his more useful talents, as well as something he genuinely enjoyed when he could find the time, but even more than creating delicious meals for Ianto and their family, Jack loved to bake.
Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, bake sales, he’d always jump at any chance to get out his baking trays, don his frilly apron, and create delicious cakes, pies, and biscuits. He was addicted to anything sweet and sugary, although he made savoury items too.
Today, while Ianto cut out biscuits from the dough Jack had already made, his husband was busy with a cake recipe he’d found online when he perhaps got a little overenthusiastic with the kitchen utensils.
“OWOWOW!” he yelped, hopping around, clutching his hand.
Ianto rolled his eyes; Jack could be such a drama queen. “What did you do now?” He reached for Jack’s hand to check the damage. “You’re supposed the grate the ginger, not your fingers!”
“I know! But there was only a tiny bit left, and my hand slipped!”
