A/N: Double drabble.
“You didn’t just hide a monster in my base, a monster that could have destroyed the entire world, you hid yourself from me. From all of us.” Even now, a week after the Cyberwoman incident, Jack wasn’t sure which betrayal angered him the most. He’d thought he knew Ianto, or was at least in the process of getting to know him. All the flirting, the late nights talking over a nightcap, had any of it been real?
“I’m sorry.” Ianto sat on the shabby sofa in his cramped flat, hands clasped together, head bowed.
“Sorry for what you did, or sorry you got caught?” Jack stood in front of his youngest employee, his arms folded.
“I loved her, I couldn’t just give up on her. If I hadn’t tried to save her…” Ianto trailed off, shaking his head. “Once she was herself again, I thought we could leave, go somewhere nobody knew us, be happy.” He finally looked up at Jack. “I figured it would be easier if I didn’t get close to anyone, just did my job and stayed out of everyone’s way. It’s not like you ever asked me anything about myself.”
Jack sighed. “I’m asking you now.”
