“Are we goin’ anywhere in particular?” Dee asked, jumping over a clump of bracken in his path.
“Why?” Ryo glanced back over his shoulder. “Was there somewhere you wanted to go? I mean, I don’t mind, one direction is as good as another, but if you’ve got a preference…”
“No.” Dee caught up with his lover. “I was just wonderin’. Though maybe there was somethin’ out this way that you didn’t wanna miss. One of those burial mounds or a stone circle. I know you love that stuff.”
“Nothing like that out here, as far as I know,” Ryo admitted. It’s just such a beautiful day and I felt like walking. Don’t you just sometimes want to get completely away from civilisation?”
“Can’t say I do. I happen to like civilisation, and all the modern conveniences of city life.” Dee stopped beside his lover on the crest of the hill they’d been climbing. “Gotta say the view from up here’s worth seein’ though.”
Ryo smiled. “Sometimes the destination is less important than the journey it takes to get there, and the things you get to see and experience along the way.”
“Yeah,” Dee agreed. “Think I’m startin’ to get that.”
