A/N: Double drabble.
Jack likes getting up early. Morning is the best part of the day, and since he doesn’t need a lot of sleep, there’s no point wasting time lying in bed when he could be up on a rooftop, watching the sun rise and the city below him come awake.
He’s found that living forever is easier to face if he takes it one day at a time, enjoying everything as if it’s both the first and last time he’ll get to experience it. Every day is a brand-new opportunity for adventure, meeting new people, trying new things, or rediscovering old pleasures. He doesn’t ever want to let himself become jaded, seen it all, done it all, because that way leads to madness.
This morning though, he’s been awake for almost two hours and is still in bed, because if he’s intent on keeping his life fresh and exciting, he doesn’t want to get into a rut.
Time is only wasted if he stays in bed by himself when he could be doing something more interesting, but right now nothing is more interesting than this. Ianto is still asleep, looking so peaceful, and Jack is determined to memorise everything about him.
