A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
“Damn, you gave me quite a scare,” Dee admitted, standing by the gurney, trying to keep out of the way while the nurse patched his partner up.
“You worry too much.” Ryo smiled reassuringly.
“There was a lot of blood, and I couldn’t tell where it was comin’ from.” Dee knew he’d maybe overreacted a bit, but there’d been bullets flying, and when Ryo had suddenly gone down, his shirt turning red, it had freaked him out, not knowing how badly the man he loved had been hit.
“It’s hardly more than a flesh wound. Just needs a few stitches and I’ll be good as new.”
As it turned out, it wasn’t a bullet wound at all; one of the gunman’s bullets had ricocheted off a nearby wall and Ryo had been hit by several shards of brick. Most had only nicked him, but one had been large and sharp enough to slice into his chest, leaving a nasty cut. The impact had been enough to knock him off balance and he’d fallen.
JJ, up on a roof, had taken out the gunman a couple of minutes later, but for that brief time Dee had been scared for his lover’s life. It had been a huge relief to turn and see Ryo sitting up, wincing in discomfort, but still mostly in one piece.
“Just wish we’d had our vests on is all.”
Ryo sighed. “We weren’t expecting to get caught up in a gunfight.”
“I know. Just glad you’re okay.”
