“Babe, relax!” Dee urged his lover. “We’ve got plenty of food for over the holiday! It’s not like we’re gonna be feedin’ an army; it’s just gonna be you, me, Bikky, Carol, and her aunt for Christmas dinner. I know the kid’s got a big appetite, but we’re never gonna get through the feast you got planned as it is; we’ll be eatin’ leftovers for the rest of the week.”
“But I forgot to get…”
Dee cut in before Ryo could finish. “Whatever you forgot we can do without, you don’t have to cook everything that’s ever been on a Christmas menu. Now quit worryin’ over nothin’. You’re always pushin’ yourself too hard, then you wind up frazzled, too stressed and tired to enjoy yourself.”
“I just want everything to be perfect, is that so bad?”
“’Course not, but perfection is subjective. You think you gotta cook all the things, create the biggest feast you can imagine, but the rest of us just wanna spend Christmas together. We’ll enjoy whatever you serve up, we always do ‘cause your home cookin’ is amazing. You don’t have anything to prove; as long as we’re all together, this Christmas is gonna be epic.”
