Lounging on his back, Dee hummed a few bars of ‘Summertime’, the Ella Fitzgerald classic.
“You didn’t sound so cheerful earlier,” Ryo noted, watching his lover.
“We were at work earlier.” Dee turned his head to peer lazily at Ryo through half-closed eyes. “Wasn’t much to be cheerful about. This is a whole other matter.”
“So are you planning on just lying there?”
“What if I am? There’s no law against it; I should know.”
Ryo shrugged. “It’s a free country, do whatever you like, just seems a waste to me after we paid to get in. If all you wanted was to lie in the sun, we could be doing that for free out in the park.” He stood up, stripping off his t-shirt. “But I’m going in.” With that, he approached the edge of the open-air swimming pool and slid into the water.
Dee watched as his lover pushed off from the side, swimming out into deeper water, before turning over to float on his back. It was a very enticing sight; suddenly, lazing on a poolside chair seemed a lot less appealing.
“Whelp, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em,” Dee muttered, and jumped into the water.
