Unlike Dee, Ryo was a paragon of self-control. If there was something he shouldn’t do, he resisted all temptation, and if there was something he SHOULD do, he did it even when he didn’t particularly want to. Sometimes, Dee wished he could be more like his partner, but temptation was always so… tempting, and doing things he hated, such as paperwork, was nothing short of torture.
Despite being a mere ten months older, Ryo was obviously the sensible, mature half of their partnership, while Dee was the impulsive, immature one, often reacting without thinking things through. It got him into trouble on a regular basis, with his partner as often as not. For instance, there’d been all those poorly received pounces in the early days of their partnership, before they’d moved beyond friendship to become lovers.
Back then, Ryo had frequently become frustrated with Dee’s inability to keep his hands to himself, sometimes resorting to swatting him with whatever came to hand whenever Bikky wasn’t available to rescue him from his handsy partner’s clutches.
“Why can’t you just accept that I’m not interested?” Ryo had asked on one occasion, when Dee had found himself on the floor with a bruised… ego and his furious partner standing over him, glaring. Despite the situation, Dee had been so turned on by the fire in Ryo’s eyes that he’d been ready to try another pounce and damn the consequences! Thankfully, he’d thought better of it before he could make matters worse and had opted for his usual blunt honesty instead.
“Hey, don’t blame me! You know I can’t control myself around you!”
“And exactly how is that my fault?”
“I wasn’t blamin’ you!”
“That’s not how it sounded.”
For once, Dee had dredged up enough common sense to quit while he was behind, realising whatever he said or did would likely only make matters worse. Ryo might have his own self-control down to a fine art, but if he was pushed too far he could still snap. He was only human.
Still, that had been several years ago, and a lot had changed since then. These days, they weren’t only lovers, they were living together in domestic bliss, sharing a bed every night.
One thing that hadn’t changed was Dee’s all-consuming desire for his lover, and if he wasn’t getting Ryo’s loving quite as often as he’d like, he wasn’t about to complain. Ryo had come a long way since the early days of their relationship, helped along by Dee’s constant presence and Bikky being at the other end of the country instead of in the next room. His sex drive might never quite match Dee’s, but since moving in together he said yes far more than he said no. Not that it stopped Dee from pouncing.
“Dee, get off! What’s wrong with you? I’m trying to make the bed!”
“Sorry, babe. Never could control myself around you.”
“You don’t even try!” Ryo huffed, but he was smiling. “Good thing I love you.”
