Owen stood watching Torchwood’s newest trainee for several minutes before saying anything. He’d been dubious about this one from the start; he might have the makings of a halfway decent field agent, but he wasn’t particularly bright.
“D’you have a death wish or something?”
“Huh? What d’you mean?”
“Oh, nothing. I’ve just been watching you mucking about with the one piece of equipment you should never touch, not if you value your life.”
“What’s the big deal? It’s a coffee machine, I’m just trying to figure out how it works so I can make myself a cup. I’ve checked all the cupboards, but there doesn’t seem to be any instant; I’ll have to bring a jar with me tomorrow unless I can get this stupid thing to work.” He fiddled with a couple of levers.
Owen laughed. “Oh, you’re really asking for trouble now! Not only messing with the coffee machine, but talking about bringing instant into the Hub, the two things that are guaranteed to annoy Ianto more than anything else. I’d make myself scarce before he gets back if I were you.”
“He’s just the archivist, isn’t he? What could he do?”
“Trust me, you don’t wanna know.”
