A/N: Double drabble.
Another strange alien creature had been unfortunate enough to be snatched up by the Rift. It was herbivorous, and not much bigger than a hamster, but it was proving difficult to handle due to its natural defences. When it felt threatened, which it did right now, hundreds of razor-sharp two-inch long needle-like spines stood up all over its tiny body so that instead of a cute little silver-furred critter with tiny, tufted ears, it looked more like a sea urchin crossed with a spiky burr.
Picking it up by hand was out; Jack had tried that already and ended up with severely perforated fingers. Tongs were no good either, since they couldn’t get a grip. The creature’s spines were impressively rigid but angled so that the tongs just slid right off.
So there stood Team Torchwood, confounded by a miniature alien that couldn’t even run away from them since, thanks to its spines, its feet no longer touched the ground.
“Now what do we do?” Ianto asked. “Anyone got any bright ideas?”
Jack didn’t reply, too busy sucking his injured fingers.
“Couldn’t we just roll it into the containment box?”
Ianto blinked at Tosh. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
